Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi visited Civil Hospital Sukkur on Monday and discussed hospital affairs with Medical Superintendent Dr. Ahmed Mujtaba Memon.
Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi also held a meeting in the office of the newly appointed Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ahmed Mujtaba Memon. This was the Commissioner’s second consecutive meeting focused on improving the hospital’s operational capacity and the quality of patient care.
Commissioner Qureshi expressed the Sindh government’s serious commitment to improving health facilities and cited special directives from the Chief Secretary of Sindh to make every possible effort for reforms in the hospital. He emphasized the need for selfless cooperation between the district administration and the hospital management to ensure the well-being of patients.
To facilitate the resolution of issues, the Commissioner directed the hospital administration to maintain constant contact with Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Bushra Mansoor, who has been appointed as his focal person. Qureshi acknowledged that addressing deep-rooted flaws would take time, but he expressed profound confidence in achieving significant improvements.
In response, Dr. Memon accepted the responsibility as a challenge and highlighted several immediate concerns. The Commissioner assured that prompt measures would be taken to resolve all identified issues, including the acquisition of modern equipment for the ophthalmology and orthopedic departments, repair of radiology machinery, removal of encroachments from hospital land, and arranging a dedicated express feeder from SEPCO to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
Principal Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Sukkur Dr. Muhammad Saleh Channa, Assistant Medical Superintendent Dr. Zahid Malik, and Deputy Director Planning and Development Raza Hussain, among other officials, were also present at the meeting.
