Pakistan’s Army Chief on Thursday reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to upholding the security and equal rights of all citizens as enshrined in the Constitution, during a Christmas celebration event with the Christian community.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, joined congregants at Christ Church in Rawalpindi to commemorate the occasion, extending heartfelt greetings for peace, harmony, and prosperity.
In his address, the army chief paid tribute to the nation”s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, underscoring his vision of equality, freedom, and religious tolerance. He emphasised that the protection of minority rights remains a fundamental principle of Pakistan”s ideology.
While interacting with attendees, Field Marshal Munir acknowledged the significant and enduring contributions of Pakistani Christians to national development and security. He specifically noted their distinguished and proud multi-generational service within the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The Field Marshal stressed the necessity of interfaith harmony and mutual respect, stating that the nation”s strength is rooted in its diversity and shared constitutional values that transcend religion, ethnicity, caste, or creed.
In response, leaders of the Christian community expressed their gratitude for the Field Marshal”s visit. They acknowledged the role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding the homeland and promoting inclusivity, religious harmony, and national unity in the country.
