Sujag Shehri Ittehad’s protest march for the restoration of Tehsil Hospital

Sujag Shehri Ittehad has warned that they will extend their campaign to a shutter-down strike if authorities do not address the dire situation at Nasirabad Tehsil Hospital, where incomplete construction and a lack of resources are causing severe hardship for millions of local residents.

This warning was given during a protest march on Wednesday in the village of Jan Muhammad Chandio, marking the 61st day of the citizens’ movement for the hospital’s restoration. The demonstration was attended by villagers, social activists, and politically aware individuals, which passed through various streets and culminated in a sit-in at the main square.

The participants of the gathering chanted slogans demanding immediate action, including “Save the hospital,” “Give treatment to the people,” and “Health facilities are the right of the people,” and expressed their frustration by saying, “Incompetent officers are unacceptable.”

Addressing the gathering, speakers including the organization’s Senior Vice President Sufi Ghaffar Channo, Asif Kathio, and Mansoor Soomro, articulated the community’s concerns. They highlighted the incomplete construction work, the persistent shortage of doctors, and the unavailability of medicines in the hospital.

The leaders emphasized that although their movement is peaceful, they will not compromise on the fundamental rights of the people. They announced that if their demands for the completion of the hospital and the provision of adequate health facilities are not met immediately, more drastic measures, including a widespread strike, will be taken.
