The US dollar continued to trade at a premium in the open market compared to the interbank rate on Friday, with other major international currencies such as the British pound and the euro exhibiting significant spreads between their buying and selling prices.
According to figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan, the American currency was quoted for purchase at PKR 280.54 and for sale at PKR 281.15 in the open market.
In the interbank market, the greenback concluded at a buying rate of PKR 280.11 and a selling rate of PKR 280.31, highlighting the disparity with the open market valuation.
The euro experienced a notable variance in its valuation, with the buying price recorded at PKR 328.69 and the selling price reaching PKR 331.62.
Similarly, the pound sterling was valued between PKR 377.21 for buying and PKR 380.66 for selling, reflecting a considerable margin.
Other key currencies also saw movement, with the Japanese yen priced from JPY 1.77 to JPY 1.84. Among Gulf currencies, the UAE dirham was traded between PKR 76.51 and PKR 77.27, while the Saudi riyal was available at PKR 74.80 for buying and PKR 75.42 for selling.
