Online delivery network foodpanda has launched a nationwide winter welfare programme for its riders, distributing over 12,000 winter jackets and mittens to its fleet to help them contend with the cold weather.
According to a report today, the company has also established hot beverage stations at select pandaMarts in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, offering complimentary soup and tea to its delivery personnel. In a partnership with the Akhuwat Foundation, the initiative further includes the provision of jeans to riders as part of the Winter Care drive.
In addition to welfare measures, a performance-based incentive scheme, titled the Order Driven Winter Challenge, has been introduced in seven cities. Under this campaign, more than 100 riders who complete the highest number of deliveries will be awarded new mobile phones in recognition of their service during the winter period.
Ahsan Malik, the Head of Logistics at foodpanda, commented on the company’s commitment to its fleet. ‘Our riders are more than just the backbone of our quick commerce and food delivery operations, going up against various weather conditions every day to serve our customers,” he stated. “Ensuring their safety and comfort, especially during the colder months, is our utmost priority and a core part of our commitment to their welfare across the country.’
The multi-faceted programme is designed to support the platform’s delivery partners by providing them with necessary gear, nourishment, and recognition during the challenging winter season.
