According to Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Rehman highlighted during a meeting with skilled trainees, craftsmen, manufacturers, and exporters at the Carpet Training Institute that traditional craftsmanship can be successfully harmonized with innovation through the application of modern techniques. This blend of tradition and innovation is allowing the industry to expand its reach into international markets, offering a renewed global identity for hand-woven carpets.
The industry is focusing on research and development to align traditional craftsmanship with contemporary market needs, emphasizing design innovation, environmentally friendly materials, and modern production technologies. Key areas of research include the use of computer-aided design, eco-friendly dyes, and improved working conditions for skilled workers, which are considered essential for maintaining competitiveness against machine-made alternatives.
