The Khairpur Criminal Model Court has sentenced one person to death and three others to life imprisonment in a 2016 murder case over a minor children’s quarrel.
The verdict was announced today by First Additional District and Sessions Judge, Criminal Model Court, Liaquat Ali Khoso, in the case concerning the murder of citizen Waheed Ali Memon. The court found Abid Ali Memon guilty of murder and sentenced him to death.
Three other convicts, Imdadullah Memon, Amir Ali Memon, and Muawiya Memon, were each given a life sentence.
The three convicts sentenced to life imprisonment will also have to pay a fine of one lakh rupees each. In case of non-payment of the fine, they will have to undergo an additional five months of imprisonment. The court also ordered all four convicts to pay five lakh rupees each in compensation to the deceased’s brother and the complainant in the case, Asif Ali Memon.
The fatal incident occurred in 2016 when the convicts, following a minor quarrel, shot and killed Waheed Ali Memon in the Munshi Muhalla area, within the jurisdiction of the A-Section police station.
After the sentencing, all four individuals were transferred to Central Jail Khairpur.
