Authorities have apprehended a total of 56 individuals, including proclaimed offenders and absconders, during a comprehensive security sweep across the federal capital, seizing a quantity of narcotics and illegal firearms in the process.
A breakdown of the operation reveals that teams from the Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi, Noon, Kirpa, and Lohi Bher police stations took 10 suspects into custody for their alleged involvement in various criminal acts.
During these initial arrests, law enforcement officials recovered 220 grams of heroin and eight pistols complete with ammunition from the possession of the accused.
Formal cases have been registered against the detained individuals, and further investigations into their activities are currently underway.
In a separate but coordinated effort, a special campaign targeting proclaimed offenders and fugitives resulted in the apprehension of an additional 46 wanted individuals by various police units.
The crackdown is being conducted following specific directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a continued drive to secure the city and maintain public order.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Operations, Qazi Ali Raza, affirmed the force”s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of residents. He stated that elements seeking to disrupt public peace would not be tolerated, emphasising that citizen protection is the foremost priority.
Officials have also called upon the public to contribute to these efforts by promptly reporting any suspicious persons or activities to their local police station or through the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, highlighting that police-public cooperation is vital for eradicating crime from society.
