IGP Orders Intensified Crackdown on Criminal Elements in Federal Capital

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, today directed law enforcement officials to intensify operations against criminal elements without discrimination, signalling a major push to enhance the law and order situation across the federal capital.

The directive came during a high-level security meeting at Safe City Islamabad, where the new IGP conducted a comprehensive review of the security landscape and crime prevention measures.

The assembly, which included all senior ranks of the capital”s police force such as DIGs, AIGs, and SSPs, heard detailed briefings from commanders on a range of critical issues, including ongoing counter-terrorism initiatives, security protocols for sensitive locations, intelligence-based operations, and inter-agency cooperation.

In his instructions, IGP Rizvi underscored the necessity of strengthening intelligence-led policing and ensuring the security of all sensitive installations and key locations at any cost. He mandated that field policing, including patrols and checkpoints, must become more proactive and effective to guarantee a swift response to any incident.

The police chief also stressed the importance of improving the culture within police stations, demanding courteous and professional conduct when interacting with the public. He called for the timely resolution of citizen complaints and insisted on strict adherence to merit-based principles in all departmental actions.

Furthermore, the IGP ordered the development of a comprehensive strategy to improve traffic flow and facilitate commuters, instructing officials to utilise all available resources to protect the lives and property of residents.

In a separate session at the Central Police Office (CPO), IGP Rizvi reviewed administrative, welfare, and logistical matters with the DIG Headquarters and other senior officials.

During this meeting, he instructed officers to modernise departmental procedures, ensure the optimal utilisation of resources, and enhance the professional capabilities of the police force, reaffirming that the welfare of personnel and the delivery of high-quality public services remain his foremost priorities.
