Voicing alarm over recent incidents that have hindered commercial activities, leaders from Karachi’s business community today called for more effective security strategies and closer collaboration with law enforcement to address critical safety gaps.
The demand was put forth during a pivotal meeting between Hafeez Aziz, Chief PCLC of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and Irfan Baloch, DIG West and Central, aimed at strengthening coordination between police and the city”s commercial sector.
Mr. Aziz, speaking on behalf of business leaders, emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures. He underscored that a secure business environment is essential not only for the city’s economic vitality but also for the well-being of its populace, urging for a more integrated partnership in commercial hubs and industrial zones.
In response, DIG Irfan Baloch reassured the KCCI representatives of the police department”s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and stability. He stressed the critical role of law enforcement in safeguarding residents and facilitating a secure climate for business operations.
‘The safety of Karachi’s citizens and its business community is our top priority. We remain committed to taking proactive measures to ensure the city remains a hub of economic activity,’ DIG Baloch affirmed.
To further cement this partnership, DIG Baloch announced his intention to visit the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the near future. The visit is planned to facilitate deeper dialogue and a more thorough understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
‘By fostering a closer partnership with the KCCI, we can ensure that both law enforcement and businesses are aligned in our shared goal of a safer and more prosperous Karachi,’ he stated, noting the visit underscores a commitment to tackling the city’s security challenges head-on.
The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with both parties reaffirming their shared vision for a thriving, secure metropolis. The discussion ended with a renewed pledge to combine resources and expertise to overcome security hurdles, aiming to make Karachi a more attractive destination for local and international investment.
