LAHORE:Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar conducted surprise visits, spanning over 24 hours, to different cities of south Punjab yesterday night without protocol. He travelled to Multan from Islamabad, visited Taunsa Sharif, DG Khan and returned to Multan today morning. Usman Buzdar is the first Chief Minister who paid continuous visits to four cities of the province in one day. The Chief Minister directed to initiate disciplinary proceedings against 27officers over dereliction of duty and failure in the solution of public complaints. On the CM’s directions 12 officers were placed under suspension while 4 officers were removed from their posts, adding that a number of officers were issued show-cause notices over their poor performance.
Sardar Usman Buzdar also removed Multan CPO Mahboob Rashid Mian and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Amir Khattak from their posts over dereliction of duty and failure in the solution of public problems. The S and GAD issued a notification and directed them to report to S and GAD. Moreover, Assistant Commissioner Headquarter DG Khan (Additional charge AC Taunsa), DSP Multan, SHO Multan and Circle In-Charge Special Branch, CEO Taunsa, tehsil officer (I and S) Taunsa and SHO city Taunsa, were suspended on the direction of Chief Minister. In-charge Rescue-1122 Taunsa as well as Admin Officer, In-Charge Medicine and a doctor of THQ Hospital Taunsa were also placed under suspension, besides removing district in-charge of Rescue-1122 DG Khan from his post. In-charge Emergency Teaching Hospital DG Khan was also suspended while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) DG Khan (holding additional charge MD Solid Waste Management Company DG Khan) was made OSD.
Chief Minister expressed displeasure to commissioners, RPOs of Multan and DG Khan and Deputy Commissioner DG Khan over their poor performance whereas DSP Taunsa, SE and XEN Highway DG Khan as well as CEO Muzaffargarh were issued show-cause notices. Managing Director Solid Waste Management Company, Multan, MS THQ Hospital Taunsa, XEN and SDO of Public Health Engineering Department were given show cause-notices over their unsatisfactory performance.
The CM visited THQ Hospital Taunsa and inquired patients about the facilities being provided there. He also took notice of the complaints of attendants and directed to initiate disciplinary action against the responsible one. He directed to suspend MS Dr Muhammad Tahir upon complaints and further directed to take action against the absentee doctors.
He later went to PS City; inquired about the accused confined in lockup and directed to treat the visitors well, adding that the police should perform its duties as a servant to the citizens. The Chief Minister made round of Taunsa city and reviewed the civic facilities there. He expressed displeasure over unhygienic arrangements in the city and warned that the officers now will have to work or go home. There is no place in Punjab for officers failing to provide relief to the public; no laxity will be tolerated in disposal of development projects. The officers will have to prove themselves through their performance otherwise strict action will be taken against them, he warned. He further said that he will visit every district personally and taken action to solve the public problems. The Chief Minister inspected Rescue-1122 centre in Taunsa.
After visiting Taunsa, the Chief Minister reached DG Khan late night and visited Teaching Hospital and inquired about patients and attendants about the medical facilities being provided there. Patients complained to Chief Minister about the purchase of medicines and thermometer from the market, upon which, he took notice and directed the Health Advisor Muhammad Hanif Pitafi to probe the matter and submit report as soon as possible. The Chief Minister then visited Muzaffargarh and returned to Multan early in the morning at 4:00 am. He inspected cardiology institute to review the medical facilities. He said that new emergency of the institute would soon be completed. The Chief Minister directed to improve medical facilities in the institute for patients. He made it clear, “those officers who will show performance will remain in the province.”
ITALIAN AMBASSADOR CALLS ON CM PUNJAB
Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Andreas Ferrarese called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office on Monday and discussed matters of mutual interest. He invited the CM to visit Italy and both agreed to promote bilateral cooperation for the protection of historical places as well as the promotion of tourism.
The chief minister invited the Italian investors to invest in special economic zones where facilities are provided to the investors. 7 special economic zones have been notified and the establishment of 13 SEZs has been planned by the government, he added and assured to provide different facilities to Italian investors in special economic zones. Meanwhile, the CM added that new tourist spots were being developed adding that the scope of the Walled City of Lahore Authority has been expanded to the whole of the province. Similarly, the walled city was being restored to its original shape, he added. Pakistan and Italy enjoy the best relations and there is a need to further expand the friendly relations by enhancing the exchange of trade delegations, he further said.
The Italian Ambassador said a conducive atmosphere has been provided to investors adding that a lot of work has been done for the protection of historical places. The Italian investors are interested to benefit from the opportunities of investment to further expand cooperation with the Punjab government, he added.
Dignitaries meet CM
Provincial Minister Sumsam Bukhari and Members National Assembly including Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak, Sardar Talib Nakai, Raza Nasrullah, Khurram Shehzad, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan and Riaz Fatiyana called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office on Monday and briefed the chief minister about the problems of their constituencies. The CM noted the problems and issued on the spot orders for their redressal.
Upon which, the elected representatives thanked the Chief Minister for issuing timely orders. Talking to the assembly members, Usman Buzdar said that opposition’s conspiracy had already been thwarted with the support of public and they will never succeed in future.
We respond to the opponents with service to people, he remarked. Opposition cannot compare of their dark era of 30 years with our two and a half years period, heralding progress and prosperity in the country, he added. To fan propaganda is hallmark of opposition’s politics but the government would complete its tenure, he added. The Chief Minister said that he believes in public service through the active consultation of elected representatives.
