An Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi took decisive action on Monday, ordering the immediate arrest and sentencing of two senior police officers to six months in prison for their failure to comply with judicial directives in a high-profile case involving Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued the stern verdict against Station House Officer (SHO) Nadeem Abbas and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shakeel of the Sadiqabad Police Station. The court mandated their imprisonment and imposed individual fines of Rs. 50,000 for not serving summons in the November 26 protest case.

The ruling came after the court deemed the responses from the police officials to a previously issued show-cause notice for contempt as unsatisfactory. The notice had also been served to the SP Rawal.

In a related development, the prosecution has formally submitted a challan against Aleema Khan in the same matter, designating her as the principal accused. The legal filing alleges that she incited and provoked party workers to participate in the protest.

The challan highlighted that the demonstration was held in defiance of a ban on public gatherings under Section 144. It also referenced an Islamabad High Court ruling from November 21, which stipulated that any protest conducted without administrative approval would be considered unlawful, a directive allegedly ignored by Ms. Khan and others.
