Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar today issued a firm directive to all relevant authorities, stressing the necessity of implementing government policies in letter and spirit to ensure the continuation of Pakistan”s vital GSP Plus status.
The instruction was delivered during a high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister in the capital today, which was convened specifically to review the strategy for maintaining the preferential trade arrangement.
During the session, Mr Dar sought a comprehensive update on the implementation status from all federal and provincial departments regarding the tasks they were assigned to satisfy the criteria for GSP Plus.
The Secretary Commerce provided a detailed presentation to the committee, apprising attendees of the various measures the government has undertaken to meet the standards prescribed by the European Union.
The commerce secretary also shared particulars related to the recent official visit of the EU Review Mission to Pakistan, which assessed the country”s compliance.
