The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has reiterated its commitment to continue the journey of democratic stability and public service, stating that the “blood of the martyrs” of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) will not be allowed to go in vain. This pledge was made during a solemn ceremony held in memory of the devoted heroes of this historic movement.
Hosted by PPP Hyderabad Division President Ajiz Dhamrah, the dignified gathering was held at Dhamrah House in Kotri. The event included Quran Khwani and special prayers, attended by a large number of party members, office-bearers, and local dignitaries.
Participants of the memorial ceremony paid rich tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the MRD movement. Speakers emphasized that the history of the PPP is filled with sacrifices and struggles, and they drew parallels between the martyrs of MRD and the great sacrifices made by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for democracy and the rights of the people. They said that the heroes of the movement bravely confronted the “darkness of dictatorship” and revitalized the spirit of public power.
In his address, Dhamrah described the martyrs as “a bright chapter in our history.” He stressed, “Their sacrifices convey the message that standing up against oppression and tyranny is the true democratic spirit. The Pakistan Peoples Party has always been the heir to the ideals of its martyrs and the voice for the rights of the people.”
Dhamrah further announced, “Today, we pledge that we will not let the blood of the martyrs go in vain and will continue the journey of public service and democratic stability under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.”
The party workers present at the event expressed their firm resolve to always remember the sacrifices of the workers who laid down their lives and to carry the party’s message to every household in the country.
The ceremony reinforced the PPP’s long-standing tradition of honoring those who made sacrifices for their cause. The party considers its history, from its founding leaders to the heroes of the MRD and beyond, as a continuous series of sacrifices to strengthen democracy and public rights.
Prominent attendees at the event included Aftab Jhakrani, Taluka Kotri President Faiz Shah, Rabeel Mallah, Shabbir Buledi, Imtiaz Abro, Nazir Shar, Bazil Ajiz Dhamrah, Engineer Sikandar Hayat, and Zeeshan Khan.
