Malaika Raza, the General Secretary of the Human Rights Cell of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), today offered her insights on the Gaza peace plan put forth by President Donald Trump, in light of persistent regional challenges.

She acknowledged the U.S. President’s efforts to mediate and reduce regional tensions, but expressed concerns over the plan”s feasibility and impartiality.

The statement highlights that the proposed plan seems to favor Israeli interests, potentially sidelining the legitimate demands and rights of Palestinians. A major point of contention is the exclusion of Palestinian voices, especially from Gaza, in discussions addressing the humanitarian crisis in the area.

The PPP calls for transparency about the specifics of the peace proposal, particularly how it addresses the ongoing crisis in Gaza, which has resulted in significant loss of life, displacement, and a severe humanitarian toll. Clarity is also needed regarding Pakistan”s potential role in executing any peace agreements.

Raza advocates for parliamentary debate and comprehensive political dialogue to determine Pakistan”s official stance on these issues. She emphasizes that no single political entity should dictate the country”s position on Palestinian matters.

According to international law, Palestine is recognized as an occupied territory, and any peace agreements should be reached through comprehensive consultation and agreement with Palestinian leaders. The PPP underscores the necessity of adhering to these principles to ensure that any peace effort respects Palestinian sovereignty and rights.
