Dollar Trades Above 279 Against Rupee as Interbank and Open Market Gap Persists

The Pakistani Rupee remained steady against the US Dollar in the open market on Monday, with the greenback trading at a selling price of Rs 280.13, maintaining a noticeable premium over the interbank rate.

According to figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP), the US currency was quoted with a buying value of Rs 279.31 and a selling value of Rs 280.13 in the kerb market.

In contrast, the interbank market recorded narrower rates for the dollar, with buying at Rs 279.07 and selling at Rs 279.27.

Other major international currencies also saw active trading. The Euro was priced for purchase at Rs 321.28 and for sale at Rs 324.42.

Similarly, the British Pound Sterling was available at Rs 368.61 for buying and Rs 372.13 for selling.

The Japanese Yen was valued between Rs 1.73 and Rs 1.80 for buying and selling, respectively.

Currencies from the Middle East also featured in the day”s trading, with the UAE Dirham quoted at Rs 75.97 (buying) and Rs 76.86 (selling), while the Saudi Riyal was recorded at Rs 74.27 (buying) and Rs 75.05 (selling).
