KARACHI:Sindh Information and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani said on Monday that the residents of Karachi would become the ultimate sufferers of the politics of hatred and prejudice being practiced by Muttahida Quami Movement.
In a video message issued today, the Sindh Information Minister said the politics of hatred and prejudice by MQM was generally harmful to people of entire Sindh. He said that every political party had the right to criticize the working of government and agitate in the peaceful manner.
He said the MQM leadership had started issuing statements based on hatred and prejudice in line with its past traditions. Ghani said it seemed to him that MQM was not in its senses and had become upset. He said that MQM leader Waseem Akhtar had delivered inappropriate remarks against Sindh Chief Minister and people of Sindh. The Information Minister said the Urdu speaking community of the province was unduly being frightened so that they were assembled under the political patronage of MQM.
He said the MQM had been attempting to cause hatred and differences among people of different communities in the province so to reignite the situation of the ethnic strife and clash in Karachi. He said that they strongly condemned vicious acts on the part of the MQM for the sake of its own politics. He said the Sindh government had been working to strengthen the municipal agencies of the province in order to further the process of devolution. The Sindh Information Minister said that Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had given special instructions to the provincial government that such a municipal system should be devised in the province, which should directly benefit its residents.
He said that a committee of the Sindh government had stared its work in this regard some nine months back. He said the suggestions given by Opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami, MQM, and other concerned stakeholders had been taken into account while finalizing the process of improving the system of local governance in Sindh.
