Fourteen Detained in Major Capital Sweep; Drugs and Automatic Weapon Seized

Authorities on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended 14 individuals, including three wanted fugitives, and confiscated a significant cache of narcotics and weaponry during a widespread operation across the federal capital, police officials confirmed. The seizures included heroin, crystal methamphetamine (Ice), three pistols, and a Kalashnikov rifle.

The crackdown, initiated following directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is part of an ongoing campaign to combat criminal elements. Police teams from the Ramna, Tarnol, Sangjani, Industrial Area, Noon, Khanna, Humak, Phulgran, and Shahzad Town stations detained 11 suspects found in possession of the illicit substances and firearms.

Formal cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are currently in progress. Separately, as part of a special drive to apprehend proclaimed offenders and court absconders, law enforcement also took three wanted criminals into custody.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Operations, Qazi Ali Raza, affirmed the commitment of the Islamabad Police to safeguarding the lives and property of residents. “No one will be allowed to disturb the peace of the city,” he stated, emphasizing that the protection of citizens remains the force’s top priority.

The SSP also encouraged public cooperation, urging citizens to immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to the relevant police station or the ‘Pucar-15’ emergency helpline to help make the city crime-free.
