QUETTA: An important meeting of the committee established by the Sindh government regarding providing relief to the farmers in the flood/rain affected areas was held at the Sindh Secretariat on Thursday.

Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Mohammad Sohail Rajput, Minister Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Agriculture Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Baqaullah Unnar, Secretary Agriculture Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Secretary General Administration Muhammad Hanif Channa and all commissioners and deputy commissioners have attended the meeting.

Speaking during the meeting, Chief Secretary Sindh said that the government will provide cash to the farmers of Sindh province as a subsidy, for which a survey to be conducted in all the districts. He directed all Deputy Commissioners to form committees at the UCs and Tapa level by Friday (Today) and these committees will include Tapedar, Chairman Union Council, Field Assistant of Agriculture Department and a civil society representative.

He said that the subsidy amount will be provided only to the farmers who cultivate wheat, he said that these committees will collect data from the farmers and after the field survey; this data will be entered in the mobile app at the facilitation centers. In the meeting, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Agriculture Manzoor Hussain Wassan said that the Sindh government has decided to form committees at the tapa level to give immediate relief to the farmers.

He further stated that Agriculture department’s field assistants are present in all areas to facilitate these committees. In the meeting, Provincial Minister of Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that civil society members should be included in the committee to make this survey transparent. “Deputy Commissioners and officers of the agriculture department have to complete this work soon” he added.
