Srinagar, February 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission has directed local police to come up with logical reason as why they registered a normal FIR in human shield case. The Commission has issued notices to the IGP of Kashmir, SSP of Budgam and SHO of Beerwah police station.
The Commission issued notices after an application was filed by the Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo saying that the police have filed a normal FIR in human shield case.
“Why police has not mentioned the name of culprit, Major Gagoi in the FIR when he himself accepted before media that he was responsible for the act. Even, the Indian politicians and top army brass hailed his action. The culprit is admitting before everyone and feeling proud of his inhuman act, and yet his name is absent in the police FIR,” reads the application submitted by Untoo at the Human Rights Commission.
Farooq Ahmed Dar, a resident of Budgam district, was tied to the bonnet of an army vehicle as a human shield and moved around in several villages during the polling for the so-called Indian Parliamentary elections in April, last year.
