IBA Karachi hosted an insightful session focused on the impact of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in handling commercial disputes, emphasizing its growing importance in Pakistan. The event took place at the IBA Main Campus, aiming to promote awareness about ADR mechanisms as viable alternatives to traditional litigation.
Justice Jawad Hassan addressed attendees, underscoring the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and time-saving benefits of arbitration, mediation, and reconciliation. He noted IBA Karachi’s establishment of Pakistan’s first ADR Center and praised Dr S Akbar Zaidi and Kamran Bilgrami for their roles in promoting ADR education. Justice Hassan highlighted the high costs of conventional legal processes and the necessity of mandatory mediation for efficient and affordable dispute resolution.
The session, part of IBA”s ongoing commitment to enhancing legal literacy, was attended by key faculty members including Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dr. Hilal Anwar Butt, Dr. Syed Sharjeel Ahmed Hasnie, and Mr. Irfan Qamar.
