Indian paramilitary man commits suicide in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): A soldier of Indian Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has committed suicide in the Indian state of Odisha. The CRPF man ended his life by shooting himself with his service gun in Padmapur area of Bargarh district. The deceased has been identified as Prasannajit Pal, who hailed from West Bengal. The reason behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, two personnel of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalite guerrillas went off in Kanker district of the disturbed state of Chhattisgarh.

The incident occurred near the BSF camp at Chilparas under Koyalibeda police station limits when a team of the BSF was out on a road for operation, a senior police official said. After the incident, Indian troops intensified searches in the area. On Monday, a Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) assistant platoon commander was killed in an IED blast in Bijapur district of the state.
