Global mobility platform inDrive has introduced a rickshaw-based delivery service in Lahore and Karachi, a move aimed at providing a new logistics option for individual customers and small enterprises. The offering has been integrated as a dedicated function within the company”s application.

According to InDrive’s report today, the new service is designed to generate increased earnings for rickshaw drivers through larger and higher-value deliveries. Simultaneously, it aims to offer small businesses enhanced flexibility and more frequent transport options, potentially reducing customer attrition.

According to internal data released by the company, business clients are significant users of rickshaw services, with approximately 40% reportedly favouring them for deliveries. The data also indicates that around 30% of the platform”s ride-hailing users have previously utilized rickshaws for sending parcels. The usage is nearly evenly split, with 52% of deliveries serving business needs and 48% for personal items.

Awais Saeed, Country Head of inDrive Pakistan, stated that the service addresses specific consumer needs. ‘Our goal is to provide solutions that directly address customer needs, particularly for small businesses that rely on inDrive to run their day-to-day operations,’ Saeed said. ‘With its affordability, higher capacity, and reliability, rickshaw delivery provides a more efficient way for businesses to transport goods, helping them serve customers better and optimise daily operations.’

Company officials noted that the rickshaw courier option is intended to fill a gap between bike and car-based deliveries. Rickshaws provide a greater carrying capacity for bulkier goods like cartons, pipes, and cables, while remaining more cost-effective than cars for transporting regular parcels such as catering orders and retail products. Their design is also cited as an advantage for navigating the congested and narrow streets common in both urban centers.

The launch is part of inDrive”s stated mission to supply affordable mobility solutions while supporting driver livelihoods and local businesses. The company asserts that by facilitating local commerce, the platform contributes to the urban economic ecosystems in Pakistan.
