IOK HCBA demands judicial probe into killing of elderly man

Srinagar, February 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has strongly condemned the killing of an elderly civilian, Syed Habibullah of Soibugh in Badgam by the Indian forces’ personnel. The HCBA at its Executive Committee meeting in Srinagar said that the Indian forces had no reason to kill the innocent civilian in a barbaric and brutal manner as he was a mentally-challenged person.

The members also condemned the act of profiling and threatening the members of Gujjar community in Hira Nagar area of Kathua district by the Kolah village sarpanch, who is reportedly associated with Congress party, for raising their voice against the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl.

The sarpanch has given an ultimatum to the members of the Gujjar Bakarwal community to vacate the area within three days or else they will be attacked. The sarpanch and his other associates have also asked the members of Hindu community to go for a social boycott of the Gujjars and not to purchase any milk or any other commodity from them, which is highly reprehensible.
