Jammu and Kashmir Food Department Commits to Ensuring Quality and Transparency in Flour Distribution


A critical departmental meeting led by Secretary Food Sardar Sohail Azam of the Free State of Jammu and Kashmir was held to address the distribution and quality of flour across the region, with key district food controllers and the Storage Officer of Rawalpindi in attendance. According to Press Information Department – Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the meeting involved comprehensive briefings on the allocation, stock positions, and inspections of flour mills and depots, emphasizing the importance of transparency in flour delivery and distribution. Secretary Azam underscored the Food Department’s duty to provide quality and affordable flour throughout Azad Kashmir and urged all officers to prioritize facilities to the public using all available resources. The Secretary also highlighted the government’s responsibility to ensure the supply of quality food items, including daily checks on food items such as milk, and demanded weekly progress reports. Strict measures were discussed to address any complaints or lapses
in the distribution process, with a focus on benefiting the needy and deserving populations through government subsidies. The meeting concluded with directives for district food controllers to intensify their efforts in ensuring the supply standards and to maintain up-to-date stock positions on the Food Department’s website daily, reinforcing the commitment to quality and accountability in food distribution.
