Brussels, July 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Kashmir Council European Union (KCEU) has welcomed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan’s stance on Kashmir dispute after victory in the parliamentary elections in Pakistan. In his first address to nation as leader of largest political party after the elections, Imran Khan on Wednesday suggested, “The leaders of Pakistan and India should sit down at a table and resolve the Kashmir dispute.”
The KCEU Chairman, Ali Raza Syed, in a statement in Brussels praised Imran Khan’s speech specially its part on Kashmir and congratulated him over his party’s victory in the general elections. He said Imran Khan’s stance in his first speech proves that he gives importance to the Kashmir dispute and hoped that prior to any decision on the issue he would take Kashmiri leadership into confidence. He also asked India to stop human rights violation in occupied Kashmir and give positive response to Imran Khan’s stance on Kashmir. He said that the Kashmiri leadership should also be part of any dialogue process aimed at settling the Kashmir dispute.
“Kashmir is an internationally-recognized disputed territory and Kashmiris who suffered for last seven decades, are basic party to the dispute,” he emphasized. The KCEU Chairman also urged the international community to play role in stopping the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and take steps to pave was for a peaceful settlement of the lingering dispute.
He said the people of Kashmir have offered matchless sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and the use of brute force by India has failed to stop them from carrying on their struggle to achieve their inalienable right to self-determination. He said that the Kashmiris were determined to take their ongoing freedom movement to its logical end at all costs.
