KARACHI: With super floods affecting over 30 million people across the country, KFC Pakistan has joined relief efforts with its donation convoy departing for affected areas.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, KFC’s Mitao Bhook Foundation has pledged 300,000 plus meals and shelter for 5,000+ individuals in affected areas of Sindh and Balochistan. The disbursement initiation was attended by Raza Pirbhai; CEO – KFC Pakistan, KFC Pakistan leadership team, and Nicole Theriot; Consul General – U.S. Consulate General Karachi.
Trucks in the relief convoy, carrying thousands of ration packs and tents, are headed towards Kashmore, Sanghar, Badin, and Sukkur in Sindh, and Sui in Balochistan. Devastated by super floods that have now been declared a national emergency, residents of these areas are in dire need of lifesaving supplies: food, shelter, medicines, and environmental protection.
Talking about KFC Pakistan’s initiative for flood relief, Raza Pirbhai; CEO – KFC Pakistan, said “While we’re initiating supply of food and shelter to these areas urgently, we’re also hoping that the KFC family and all Pakistanis help the flood relief response in any capacity they can. To continue support, we are dedicating KFC’s iconic Bucket for the entire month of September to this cause – For every Bucket sold, KFC Pakistan will donate Rs. 50 to provide food and shelter to flood affectees around Pakistan.”
Consul General Nicole Theriot of U.S. Consulate General Karachi said, “I am deeply saddened for the flood victims in Sindh, Balochistan, and elsewhere in Pakistan.
The American people stand in solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this difficult time, and we offer our deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones, as well as to those suffering damage to their livelihoods. I am very impressed how KFC is actively implementing the concept of corporate social responsibility in Pakistan and is exemplifying U.S. private sector goodwill by operating this important flood relief program.
The United States government is also doing its part by donating $30 million in life-saving humanitarian assistance to support the people and communities affected by severe flooding in Pakistan.” This is KFC Mitao Bhook Foundation’s latest initiative toward giving back to the community.
The Foundation’s efforts focus on Education, Diversity, and Inclusion. Mitao Bhook Foundation is currently providing quality education to over 5000 students across all educational levels in Pakistan and maintaining a 2500+ strong education-to-employment ecosystem for deaf individuals in the country.
