A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Minister for Law and Home Sindh, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, to discuss the introduction of positive amendments in every aspect of the existing rules and regulations for the Fishermen Cooperative Society. In this regard, further necessary instructions were given.

On this occasion, the Secretary of the Cooperative Department provided a detailed briefing on the previous rules and regulations, the objectives of necessary amendments, and other related matters.

The Sindh Law Minister stated that the formulation and implementation of new rules and regulations, including positive amendments to the current rules and regulations of the Fishermen’s Society, is being initiated. He mentioned that the tenure of the caretaker administrator would be at least six months, and new constituencies related to fishing areas would also be included in the amendments. Membership will be determined based on these new constituencies, and the registration period for each member will be 3 months. He further added that two seats for women would be reserved in each of the 11 constituencies of the Fishermen cooperative Society.

He directed that a comprehensive draft of the amendments to the new rules and regulations for the Fishermen cooperative Society be prepared and sent as soon as possible for review and further necessary action.

Earlier, after mutual suggestions, consultations, and discussions, all the participants of the meeting unanimously supported the necessary amendments to the rules and regulations of the Fishermen Cooperative Society, calling them the need of the hour.

The meeting was attended by Members of the National Assembly, Abdul Qadir Patel, Agha Rafiullah, as well as Provincial Assembly members Mahmood Alam Jamot, Asif Khan, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh Liaquat Ali Askani, Secretary of Law, Secretary of the Cooperative Department, and others.
