The bidding for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is scheduled for the 23rd of this month and will be broadcast live on television.
This was announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a move intended to ensure transparency. Addressing business leaders and representatives from companies participating in the airline”s divestment, the Prime Minister emphasized that transparency and merit remain the government”s foremost priorities in the sale process.
He stated that the privatization is proceeding smoothly, with the goal of restoring PIA”s lost identity and aligning the national flag carrier with modern requirements.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the airline will soon once again live up to its tradition of being ‘Great People to Fly With.’
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the restoration of PIA’s international routes will offer greater convenience to overseas Pakistanis and stressed that modernizing the airline is essential for supporting the growth of Pakistan’s tourism sector.
He said he is hopeful that whoever assumes responsibility after the bidding will devote their full energy to reviving the company”s identity and driving its progress.
All bidders participating in the privatization process attended the meeting in Islamabad, where attendees praised the government”s professional and transparent approach.
