Three coal miners sustained injuries in a methane gas explosion in a local coal mine of Tehsil Sharug in district Harnai of Balochistan province on Monday.
According to a statement by rescue sources, the incident occurred at the Amir Muhammad Khan coal mine in the PMDC area of Shahrug. The explosion resulted in the collapse of a section of the mine, trapping the miners inside.
Rescue operations were promptly initiated, and the trapped miners were successfully rescued and transferred to Sharug hospital for initial medical treatment.
Subsequently, the injured miners, identified as Nasrullah son of Sadu Khan, Muhammadullah son of Abdul Qadir and Agha Wali son of Lajbar Khan. They were referred to Quetta for further treatment due to the severity of their injuries. All three miners are Afghan citizens.
Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and ensure safety measures are reinforced in the mining area.
