The Sindh Health Department will launch a 12-day national immunization campaign from Monday, November 17, to protect the health and future of young children from deadly diseases like measles and rubella. On this occasion, in an official message on Sunday, Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi emphasized the profound responsibility of parents to protect the well-being of their children.

This public health campaign will continue throughout the province until November 29. The Commissioner urged parents to ensure that all their children aged 6 months to 5 years receive a free additional dose of the measles and rubella (MR) vaccine.

Vaccinations will be administered at local health centers and by mobile teams from the Health Department that will visit villages and neighborhoods during the campaign. Along with the MR vaccine, all children up to 5 years of age will also be given additional polio drops.

Commissioner Qureshi emphasized that according to medical experts, the combined MR vaccine is completely safe and effective, providing equal protection against both diseases with a single dose.

He added that every conscious member of society should help raise awareness among fellow parents about the importance of this vaccination program, calling it the only effective means of preventing these two diseases.

The Commissioner said that such collective efforts are crucial to protecting the nation’s youth from the debilitating effects of preventable diseases. He said the ultimate goal is to make the local districts, the province, and the country completely free of measles, rubella, and polio.
