(National): JI Chief calls on Turkish Ambassador

Lahore:Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has called on Turkish ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul to share heartfelt condolences over the loss of several lives as well as injuries to many more as a result of the earthquake in eastern Turkey.

He prayed for the deceased souls and speedy recovery to the injured and also informed the Turkish diplomat that JI charity al-Khidmat Foundation’s doctors and volunteers had already departed to Turkey to take part in relief activities. As always, he said, the people of Pakistan equally share the pain of their Turkish brothers and sisters and stand by them in this hour of grief.

Meanwhile, the JI chief addressed an anti-interest based economy seminar and highlighted the evils of the prevailing financial regime in Pakistan. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan made repeated promises to turn Pakistan a Madina-like-state but he had not taken a single step to materialize the tall claims. He said the prevailing system of economy was only in benefit of the few and privileged class and was a main reason behind rising poverty index and hunger.

He said debt traps of billions of US dollars hampered the development process and virtually turn the people of Pakistan slaves to the international lending agencies and superpowers. He said more than 80 percent country’s revenues went back to the kitties of the IMF and World Bank as interest on the loans received from them by the different governments.

The only way, he said, to get rid of the rising foreign debts was the enforcement of Islamic financial system which was based on the Zakat and interest free banking. The JI, he said, had already started a countrywide campaign to force the rulers to abandon the interest-based economy to put the country on the path of development. He said the movement would continue till the achievement of goal.
