The oath-taking ceremony of the National Youth Council (NYC) will be held tomorrow (Tuesday).
It was told during the inaugural meeting of the National Youth Council held under the Prime Minister’s (PM) Youth Programme on Monday. The members were briefed on the council’s code of conduct and responsibilities by the council’s secretary.
Addressing the members, Susheel Ram, a representative of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, highlighted Pakistan’s significant role as a founding member of the Commonwealth in empowering youth globally.
He remarked that the council members face a vital challenge to utilise their potential in empowering the youth effectively. The Commonwealth consists of 56 member states, and this initiative marks a pivotal step in youth development.
UNFPA Representative Fizza Mazhar congratulated the council members on their selection and commended Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan for their efforts in empowering young people.
She assured the council of full cooperation in implementing measures for youth development. The National Youth Council has been formed purely on merit, comprising 100 members from across Pakistan and 13 from overseas. Serving as the Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Board, the council aims to play a crucial role in policy formulation for youth empowerment.
