The government of Azad Kashmir has dismissed an officer from the Azad Kashmir police department for allegedly harassing a British-Kashmiri woman.
A statement from the Press Information Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said today that a British woman filed a complaint against Imran Gujjar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Thothal Police Station in Mirpur. She claimed that when she went to the police to report an illegal occupation of her house, the SHO, allegedly intoxicated, subjected her to physical harassment.
Protests were held in favor of the woman, and intervention was made by the British Embassy in Pakistan and the British government. Consequently, the SHO was arrested from Plandri.
Now, through an official notification, the Azad Kashmir police department has dismissed Imran Gujjar from his position. Additionally, the house, which had been occupied by a group, has been vacated and returned to the woman.
