Pakistan and Belarus to Boost Economic Ties and Trade

Pakistan and Belarus have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema and Belarusian Ambassador Andrei Metelitsa in Islamabad. According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions emphasized the cordial relations between the two countries and explored avenues for further cooperation as outlined during the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission in Minsk last year. Minister Cheema highlighted potential areas for joint ventures, particularly in agricultural machinery that could be adapted for the Pakistani market. The Minister also noted opportunities for Pakistan to export textiles, agricultural products, and surgical equipment to Belarus, while leveraging Belarusian expertise in heavy machinery. The talks underscored the use of the Pak-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission as a platform to enhance these bilater
al ties. Ambassador Metelitsa expressed that the current level of trade was below potential and stressed the need for enhanced interactions through government-to-government and business-to-business engagements, trade exhibitions, and improved banking procedures to facilitate increased trade.
