Pakistan Blames India for Malicious Smear Campaign Following Sydney Incident

Pakistan today strongly condemned what it described as a deliberate disinformation campaign originating from India, aimed at falsely linking Islamabad to a recent incident in Sydney, according to the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar.

Speaking to foreign media, the minister asserted that the effort was intentionally designed to tarnish Pakistan”s reputation. He emphasized the unfortunate nature of targeting a nation that has served as a frontline state in the global fight against terrorism and made immense sacrifices.

Tarar called for the media to act in a responsible manner and to “pin the blame where it lies.”

The Information Minister expressed appreciation for Australian authorities, noting they conducted their investigation professionally despite the “vicious campaign” and did not cast any aspersions on Pakistan in connection with the matter.

He stated it is now clear the attacker was from India and travelled on an Indian passport.

Broadening his accusations, Tarar alleged Indian involvement in transnational assassination plots, citing the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada as an example. He claimed there is “irrefutable evidence” of Indian-sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan.

The minister further alleged that India is not only funding terrorists within Pakistan but is also behind terror attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that extremism of every kind is being promoted in India.

Concluding his remarks, Attaullah Tarar reiterated that Pakistan stands for peace and denounces terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
