Pakistan Denounces Fatal Attack on UN Forces in Sudan as a War Crime

Pakistan today strongly condemned an assault on United Nations peacekeepers in Kadugli, Sudan, labeling the deadly incident a ‘war crime’ and demanding that those responsible for the horrific act be brought to justice.

The attack on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) resulted in the tragic deaths of six Bangladeshi personnel and left several other Blue Helmets injured. In a statement, the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations said it honors the supreme sacrifice of the fallen peacekeepers in the service of peace.

The Mission also expressed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Bangladesh for their grievous loss.

It emphasized that such heinous attacks against UN personnel amount to war crimes, stressing that the perpetrators must be identified and held accountable. The statement further noted that as a major troop-contributing country, Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with all peacekeepers serving the cause of peace under perilous conditions worldwide.
