Pakistan Must Explore New Rice Export Markets: Gilani

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday called for exploring new global markets for Pakistani rice to bolster the national economy. He met with representatives of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and underscored the importance of enhancing rice exports, citing the high quality of Pakistani rice.

Gilani emphasized the significance of supporting the agricultural community, given its large contribution to the nation’s workforce, and its vital role in economic advancement. He noted that Pakistan possesses significant potential for revenue generation through rice exports, but stressed the need to address obstacles hindering the industry’s development.

The Chairman Senate advocated for increased investment in research and development to improve product quality and competitiveness in the global market. He pledged his support to REAP in tackling the difficulties encountered by rice exporters. The REAP delegation provided Gilani with an overview of the current state of rice exports and outlined the primary challenges facing the industry.
