Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) today formalized financial arrangements totaling 257 million dollars aimed at reforming the critical health and education sectors in the province of Punjab.
The larger of the two pacts is the Punjab Nursing and Health Workforce Reform Program, a 150-million-dollar initiative designed to strengthen the province”s medical services.
A separate accord, the Responsive, Ready and Resilient Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Secondary Education in Punjab Program, accounts for 107 million dollars of the total. This funding package includes a seven-million-dollar grant from the Asian Development Fund.
Secretary Ministry of Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim appreciated the ADB”s financial assistance on concessional terms. He noted the funds would significantly contribute to long-term, sustainable social growth by addressing vital needs within Punjab”s educational institutions and health services.
