Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal today announced that a nationwide anti-polio campaign targeting 55.4 million children will commence on the 15th of this month, mobilizing four hundred thousand health workers to carry out the ambitious initiative.
Addressing an event in the capital, Kamal reiterated the government”s steadfast pledge to completely eradicate the poliovirus from the country.
The minister highlighted significant progress in the fight against the disease, alluding to a substantial reduction in polio cases from seventy-four recorded last year to thirty this year.
Kamal issued an appeal to all segments of society to actively engage in the week-long campaign, making a specific call to parents to ensure their children are vaccinated against the crippling illness.
He also commended the profound dedication of frontline vaccinators for their continued efforts to reach children in remote and challenging areas to administer the essential vaccine.
