Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, addressed the Ministerial Plenary session at Baku Energy Week, underscoring Pakistan’s dedication to creating a resilient and sustainable energy future.
Speaking at the 30th anniversary of the Baku Energy Forum, Malik congratulated Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov, and pledged Pakistan’s full cooperation in transitioning from a fossil fuelreliant environment to a more balanced energy framework.
Minister Malik elaborated on Pakistan’s strategic energy shift led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the need for renewable energy to complement the country’s industrialization demands. He announced the revival of the Cabinet Committee on Energy, chaired by the Prime Minister, to ensure policy coherence and coordination between the Petroleum and Power Divisions.
Highlighting efforts to expand gas infrastructure, Malik expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan and other supportive nations for aiding local exploration and resource indigenization. Despite economic challenges, he assured that Pakistan remains committed to making its gas sector sustainable through reforms and efficiency improvements.
