ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has waived off fuel adjustment charges (FAC) for people consuming electricity up to three hundred units in a month.

Addressing the PML-N members of the National and provincial assemblies here in Islamabad on Thursday, he said despite financial constraints the government is committed to provide relief to people. The Prime Minister said decision of increasing prices of petroleum products was taken with a heavy heart. He said imprudent economic policies of the last government have pushed the country into economic instability.

Shehbaz Sharif said government is planning to initiate a mega solar energy drive to produce ten thousand megawatts of affordable electricity. He said Pakistan is facing an unprecedented situation due to floods. He said government will make all out efforts to provide relief to flood affected people. Commenting on the UN Flash Appeal to help flood affected people of Pakistan, the Prime Minister thanked friendly countries for their generous support in this regard.

He advised the PML-N lawmakers to visit flood victims and offer them all possible support. He directed PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah to constitute teams and dispatch relief goods to flood victims. Shehbaz Sharif urged all political parties to set aside their political differences and come forward to help the flood victims.
