ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has conveyed a strong interest in enhancing trade and investment ties with Japan. This development follows a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi in Islamabad, where both nations reiterated their commitment to strengthening their longstanding relationship.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the friendly relations between Pakistan and Japan, underscored by a mutual goodwill among their citizens. He praised Japan’s historical support for Pakistan’s economic and industrial growth, emphasizing the successful bilateral cooperation between the two countries over the years.
Ambassador Shuichi reaffirmed Japan’s dedication to aiding Pakistan’s development objectives and expanding cooperation across various sectors. He noted that last year marked the 70th anniversary of Japan’s Overseas Development Assistance to Pakistan and expressed Tokyo’s eagerness to continue this collaborative partnership in the future.
