Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, today affirmed that departmental promotion is a fundamental right of every police officer, underscoring its importance during a prestigious rank-awarding ceremony for newly elevated personnel.
The event, organised to confer new ranks upon the officers, is part of a continuing process of departmental advancements initiated under the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Acting as the chief guest, DIG Tariq personally presented the insignia to the promoted officers. The ceremony was also attended by SSP Security and Operations Islamabad, Suleman Zafar, along with other senior police officials and the families of the honourees.
In his address, the DIG extended his congratulations to the officers and their families, acknowledging their collective achievement and offering best wishes for the officers” future responsibilities.
While paying tribute to the officers” dedication, courage, and perseverance, he reminded them of their solemn duty. “You must fulfil the oath you have taken to eliminate crime, ensure swift justice to citizens, and protect their lives and property,” he stated.
He characterised the police force as a “department of warriors and martyrs,” asserting that service to the public is the path to divine favour. “We are here to write stories of bravery,” he added, highlighting the department”s readiness to face any challenge.
The DIG further emphasised that promotion is a significant trust and that all assigned departmental responsibilities must be discharged with unwavering commitment and integrity.
