Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has finalized its acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers, marking a significant shift in the nation’s telecom landscape. This acquisition, effective from December 31, 2025, positions PTCL to lead in digital enablement and transformation across Pakistan.
With this development, Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will now operate as fully owned subsidiaries of PTCL. Ufone 4G and U Microfinance Bank, already under PTCL’s umbrella, will continue their operations. During the transition, Telenor Pakistan will maintain its status as a separate legal entity, with plans for integration with Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) pending regulatory approvals.
PTCL recognizes Telenor ASA's role in shaping Pakistan's telecom sector over the years. The acquisition combines the strengths of both entities, focusing on customer-centric services, expanded reach, and enhanced innovation. The future MergeCo is expected to enhance network capabilities, optimize resources, and deliver services that are secure and aligned with Pakistan’s digital goals.
