In a major operation under the “Safe Punjab” initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Police launched a large-scale crackdown against drug smuggling. This operation resulted in the arrest of 94 individuals and the registration of 94 cases, while a large quantity of illegal items was seized.
To enhance public safety and prevent crime, the police conducted 559 search operations across the province. In these, 17,272 individuals were questioned, resulting in the detention of 75 suspects for further investigation.
In an effort to tackle the issue of electricity theft, which is causing a national financial burden, 25 individuals were detained and 87 cases were registered. These efforts aim to discourage illegal activities.
To curb the dangerous practice of kite flying, which poses safety risks, authorities arrested 8 individuals, registered 8 cases, and confiscated 183 kites. This step is part of a broader strategy to reduce the dangers associated with this activity.
Traffic violations were also monitored, and 37,789 fines were issued. These fines amounted to 26 million rupees, and 19 smoke-emitting vehicles were impounded. Additionally, 34,342 driving licenses were issued to eligible drivers.
Furthermore, Police Service Centers provided 14 basic services to 13,792 citizens.
