Noted political and tribal leader Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Raisani on Tuesday urged citizens of Balochistan to start resistance on the basis of wisdom and rationality for the survival of offspring.
Talking to media, he emphasized the need for Balochistan’s citizens to devise their future through intellectual means. Raisani condemned the recent crackdown against book stalls in various parts of the province, including Naseerabad, Gwadar, Kohlu, and Sibi. He encouraged the people of Balochistan to establish more book stalls across the region to foster a connection with books and to base national principles on reason and rationality.
Raisani highlighted his initiative, the “Kitab Dost Tehreek” or “Book Friendly Movement,” which he launched by donating thousands of books from his personal library to educational institutions and universities in the province. To date, he has donated approximately 85,000 books and has plans to contribute an additional 5,000 books soon.
He remarked on the prolonged crises surrounding Balochistan and criticized the approach of political parties that focus on protests and sit-ins. Raisani asserted that the need of the hour is to embark on a journey grounded in wisdom and rationality to navigate the province out of its ongoing challenges.
