Karachi, January 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): 3 out of 139 children brought in gasping condition in different government hospitals at district and Taluka level, died due to multiple health complications, whereas 39 children after being administered appropriate treatment and health cover have been discharged to their homes. This is stated in daily report sent to Information Department government of Sindh, on Monday regarding the relief activities in prevailing drought conditions in Tharparkar district.
The report further stated that, 93 children are under treatment at the hospitals, whereas, 581 children were also treated under OPD services extended by health facilities of Tharparkar under the administration of Health department. The deaths of children reported by Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Mithi were attributed to multiple diseases as under: i. Shahzaib son of Roshan by Caste Narejo aged 8 months resident of village Joglar Taluka Islamkot, weighing 3.5 kg, was admitted on 15-01-2019, due to difficulty in breathing, fever, cough, birth Asphyxia and Pneumonia.
The necessary treatment was given to the child as per protocol, but the child could not survive and expired on 20-01-2019 at 07-45 am. ii. Baby Girl Daughter of Gunesh Meghwar by Caste Meghwar resident of Diplo Town was born in Private Clinic of Diplo with weight 2.2 kg. She was admitted on 19-1-2019 at 1.20 pm in Civil Hospital Mithi, due to gasping condition with synopsis, lethargic increased tone. The necessary treatment was given as per procedure, but the child could not survive and expired on 19-01-2019 at 9.45 pm.
The information further quoted the Medical Superintendent Taluka Hospital Chachro has repored the fact for the expiry of bay boy son of Adam Khan Rind resident of village Adam Rind union council Saranghiar Taluka Chachro. The report revealed that the baby was born in Chachro Hospital a weight of 1 kg on 19-1-2019 at 11.00 pm. The child born was Preterm and had very Low Birth Weight. Necessary treatment as per protocol was given and hectic efforts were made by doctors, but the child could not survive and expired on 19-01-2019 at 3.45 pm.
In respective to Livestock Department under the command of Deputy Director Livestock Tharparkar setup their veterinary camps in 09 villages of different talukas. Four camps was setup in lslamkot, two camps each at Diplo and Nagarparkar and one camp in Chachro. 95 animals were treated whereas 4318 animals were vaccinated and 203 were also drenched in the said villages. In taking relief work, the administration shared that the free wheat relief activities are in progress across the district.
On Sunday, January 20, 2019, under phase three, there were 3827 families provided, in phase two, 19 families also collected their 50 kg wheat bags, there were 10 families who do had not collected wheat bags earlier in phase one, also approached their respective sentinel points and collected wheat bags. So far, there were 247,284 families in Phase one, 252,202 families in Phase two and 114,728families in phase three, have received wheat bags at the scale of 50 kg as per family head.
The report further shared that in phase one 66,636 and in phase two, 36656 Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) have been provided the ration bags at their doorsteps. Regarding the government initiative of distribution of fodder to live stockers, there were 1505 cattle owners have been given the fodder which include 50 KG Yanda feed and 25 KG Rice Polish as they could have livelihood to survive.
