Remittances sent by Overseas Pakistanis surged to an unprecedented $4.1 billion in March 2025, marking a historic milestone as they crossed the four billion dollar threshold for the first time in the nation’s history.
Figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan reveal a year-on-year increase of 37.3 percent and a month-on-month growth of 29.8 percent. This record inflow highlights the robust backing from the Pakistani diaspora amid ongoing economic reforms and a rising confidence in the country’s financial system.
Between July and March of the current fiscal year, remittances have cumulatively reached $28 billion, reflecting a 33.2 percent rise compared to the $21 billion received during the same period last year.
The March inflows were predominantly fueled by major diaspora hubs, with Saudi Arabia leading the charge by contributing $987.3 million. The United Arab Emirates followed with $842.1 million, the United Kingdom with $683.9 million, and the United States with $419.5 million.
