Islamabad, September 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): The meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Interior was held today on Wednesday at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator A Rehman Malik the meeting of the Standing Committee reviewed in detail the Anti-Terrorism Third Amendment Bill 2020 introduced by Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi in the Senate session on September 15 2020.
In his opening remarks Chairman Committee Senator Rehman Malik said that in the interest of the country necessary legislation are required by the FATF However it is also important to see what laws actually required by the FATF so the letter which Government has received from the FATF should also be provided to the committee he added He said that every parliamentarian is in favour of all such legislation which will benefit the nation and cannot be used against any innocent person.
The Standing Committee reviewed and discussed the Bill in detail Senator Sherry Rehman Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar proposed three amendments to the Bill but were rejected by a majority of the members and Committee passed the Bill passed with majority Senators Rana Maqbool Ahmed Mohammad Javed Abbasi Sherry Rehman Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar expressed their reservations over the bill on which Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati said that when the Bill is passed the members reservations shall be addressed while formulating the rules adding the law can be amended at any time.
The meeting of the committee was attended by Leader of the House Senator Dr Shehzad Waseem Senators Rana Maqbool Ahmed Muhammad Javed Abbasi Mian Muhammad Atiq Sheikh Kahda Babar Sherry Rehman Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar Sajjad Hussain Turi and Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati Additional Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs and other senior officials attended.
